Have you discovered Ree Drummond, aka: The Pioneer Woman?
If you are blogger, you have, no doubt been enjoying The Pioneer Woman for a while now. Perhaps one of her recipes caught your eye and you thought, “I have got to make this!” Well, if you have ever thought that, and have not went ahead and tried the recipe, you need to do it because EVERY recipe of Ree’s that I have every tried is pound your fist on the table, roll our eyes into the back of your head and moan, “Mmm…,” good!
Here are some of my favorites.
- Caramelized Onion and Prosciutto Pizza
- Steak with Burgundy Mushroom Sauce
- Pasta a la Betsy (aka: penne with shrimp in a divine tomato cream sauce) I feel compelled to share with you that this was our new favorite dish UNTIL we tried the next one.
- Pasta with Pancetta and Leeks This dish inspired the following conversation:
Lacie: This is so good. I would be challenged to find a better pasta dish ANYWHERE. And, I’m a pasta girl.
Michael: Oh my God. This might be my new favorite dish. EVER.
Lacie: We need to make this for company. Its too good to keep to ourselves.
Michael: Yes! But, the company has to be people who never ate here (at our house)before. I am making THIS for new people only.
Dessert anyone? Admittedly, I am not a baker. I don’t even typically have a sweet tooth (I have a mouth full of salty, crunchy, pasta, and cheese teeth). However, these recipes are so good that you’ll be sorry you made them. Know what I mean?
- The Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever.
- That’s The Best Frosting I’ve Ever Had.
- Peach Crisp with Maple Cream Sauce
I made Michael’s birthday cupcakes with the cake and icing recipes I linked above.
I met Ree last fall when she was on her book tour and she is as lovely and graceful in person as you might imagine. If you do not yet own her cookbook, I highly recommend it. It’s my favorite cookbook, and I own many, many cookbooks. All of her recipes are beautifully illustrated with her step-by-step photography.
Speaking of photography, she is amazing! She also has photography tutorials on her blog, not to mention the contests! Here is one of my entries for a previous photo contest. The theme of the contest was, “Green.”
If you haven’t checked out her site you, you need The Pioneer Woman in your life. She even shares the story of how her rancher husband, aka: Marlboro Man, swept her off her feet. She does it in a fun to read, witty Harlequin romance style fashion that will leave you begging for more. Good thing the book is coming out this February.
Ree has inspired me as a blogger. She blogs every single day about anything that comes to her mind. She has taught me that it is okay to blog about anything that, “makes my skirt fly up.” She has leveled the global playing field by bringing the world to her cattle ranch in Oklahoma. She has made a business out of what she enjoys doing and what she does best.
Thanks for the inspiration, Ree!
